This fine renaissance castle about an hour’s drive north of Nantes originally dates from the 11th century, though it took on its current form in the 16th century. Open to visitors all week except Tuesdays in the summer, only at weekends from mid-November to mid-March. Open afternoons only from October to mid November and mid-March to April. The Chambre dorée (Golden Room), built in the 1530s, is the only Renaissance interior that may be visited all year round.
Activities for children: New in 2016, at a ground-floor level: an educational workshop with an excavation area will allow children to learn about archaeology. A second room will be devoted to the history of the castle with an immersive and educational multimedia installation.
