Château des ducs de Bretagne – Musée d’histoire de Nantes

Description

This is the most famous landmark and biggest tourist attraction in Nantes. It is not only a fascinating building in its own right but is also home to the Nantes History Museum, which has collections displayed over 32 rooms and which also has lots of activities and interactive games for children.

Parts of the building dates from the 14th century, and the château was the traditional residence of the Dukes of Brittany until Brittany was formally joined with France in 1532. The final ‘Breton’ owner and last independent ruler of Brittany was the Duchess Anne of Brittany.
