This eco-museum at Sabres, a village about 50 km southeast of Biscarrosse, is the most popular attraction in the Landes. This fascinating village preserves the homes and replicates the lifestyle of the people who used to live and work in this remote farming community in the 19th century. It is a community that was typical of this part of the world. Visitors arrive on a steam train from the old station at Sabres and get a glimpse of how shepherds, millers and subsistence farmers used to eke out a living. There are lots of animals and plenty for children to do. It closes for the winter.
